review 1: Remember "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff"? It was an instant best seller. I am rethinking the importance of how the small stuff really matters, after finishing "The Power of Small, Why Little Things Make All the Difference." In an age where we tweet, text, email and push harder to accomplish more at the expense of growing more distant in our relationships, this book provides small steps to reclaiming what matters most in our daily lives. Listening to this book while recovering from an injury this week, I have found many small steps that have made such a big difference. The kindness of reassurance from my son, husband and friends, the unexpected gestures from caring health professionals and people I hardly know, the touch of healers who are there because they listen and ar... moree not hurried. These gifts of time and sometimes even minutes have encouraged me and given me hope. I have learned about people's true nature and who I can count on. They have taught me about the person I want to become. This book assists people to be good listeners, to pause more and hear what is truly going on around them. By sharing many stories of people whose lives have changed because of the little things that matter, the authors raise hope. They present small steps that everyone can begin doing today.
review 2: This is a simple book with a simple message - go the extra inch. I love that line. It reminds us that you don't have to do it all. That is often an overwhelming and paralyzing thought. Starting with one little step gets you moving in a forward and positive direction. Combine that with being nice - making small talk, extending kindness to those around you - and the residual effects can be astounding. Ever wonder what makes some people really likable and others not so much. It is probably the extra inch - using polite language, thinking of others and taking interest in those around you. A small gesture, but very powerful. What makes this book so meaningful are all the personal stories of how it works in the real world - companies and individuals who do this on a regular basis and how it impacts their success. This is a great quick read for most anyone, but certainly anyone in any type of service industry. less

Meh. Too much name-dropping, nothing new, read the first bit and then skimmed.

Some good nuggets. A bit rambling and disorganized, but a worthwhile read.
