review 1: Seph is still torn between Johnny (who recently tried to kill her) and Menessos (who's lost a considerable amount of power and status due to being marked by her), her foster daughter Beverley vanishes after playing with a magical artifact, both the men in her life have the internal politics of their respective supernatural races to deal with - and as usual a bunch of people want her dead. Lots of story threads twisted together in this one, keeping things interesting but also occasionally confusing. Like in the last book, the constant unannounced POV switches between Seph's 1st person narration and everyone else's 3rd person POV adds to the confusion. A good read nonetheless, but I preferred the first books in the series which stuck to Seph's POV only.
review 2:... more I still love this series but was some up disappointed with books 5 and 6. I just felt that she did not stay true to the first four in the series. That said I still liked them well enough. I am also looking forward to the next book in the series. I will say that while she did not leave it with a cliffhanger like some series do she left lots unanswered story line for the next book. I can't wait. less
