review 1: Even if you aren't familiar with Nora Ephron, this is a big-hearted, quick-witted story about how we get in our own way when it comes to love. The lead character, Molly, is a modern thoroughly believable New York woman who exchanges clever language with the other well-drawn, engaging characters. Her best friend who works in the housewares department at Bloomingdales, her across-the-hall neighbor who's a former weather girl now reinvented as a social media expert, and Molly's pain-in-the neck co-worker Emily. Most of all, Molly goes into verbal sparring with a crime novelist who realizes she's the one for him long before she feels the same about him. How he wins her over and how she finally succumbs to love reads like a classic Hollywood movie.

... moreed this book. Written as an homage to Nora Ephron, I did not think I was going to enjoy another author's attempt at creating a story a la Ephron. Yet, Linda Yellin did it, and she did so with a wonderfully original and witty style. Her protagonist Molly is a 39 year old divorced woman in a relationship as safe as it is unexciting. When a new man enters her world, her cynicism keeps her from recognizing what we readers know will be the love of her life. There is no spoiler alert necessary, as both Ephron and Yellin know that the enjoyment is in the journey, and I will be happy to journey with Yellin anytime. less

Predictable, kinda cute, easy read, fun in places, but ultimately pretty forgettable. Chick lit.

If you liked the movies "When Harry Met SallY" or "You've Got Mail" you'd like this book.
