review 1: *** 3.5 *** I really liked the characters in this book! Emily and Jake are just so cute. One thing I didn't like is that Jake's little brother talks like a hyperactive adult apposed to a child... I just felt like that part could have been done a little better. Also the story really doesn't have a climax. I know that they're are more books and that the climax may come in one of those. But usually when I read a series there is a climax of some sort in every book of the series, but in this one not so much. Also it just abruptly ends, they walk into school, something happens, and then the book ends, and it's not even something that leaves you hanging. Not how I would have chosen to end a book, but I guess it will work. I plan on reading the next one just because I do like Jake... more and Emily so much!!
review 2: I have a huge bone to pick with free romance Kindle books. It's really the most evil system ever. You make me feel like you're harmless by being free and light-hearted with a cute cover, and then you get more complicated. I start to get invested in you despite your flaws and shortcomings, and then you cut off the story at the very end, leaving me wanting more. How dare you! It's so annoying. I actually did like Sweetness. That being said, I probably won't read more of the series. I did hate how the story was cut off at its knees, but I wasn't invested enough in these characters to want to keep up with their story. It felt done when I finished, rushed or not. It was a cute story and a nice thing to read at the airport last week, but that's about it. less
