review 1: This is very well written. It is angst ridden and twisting in the way only a young love story can be. The plot flows seamlessly from the start. Grayson is absolutely a beautiful character. He is trying to do the right thing for Lily and his brother. He is willing to sacrifice his dreams for her love. Lily however, doesn't want him to regret her and she sends him on his way to California. The story ends on a wicked cliffhanger and encourages you to either throw your kindle or instantly buy book 2. You will also have an insatiable need for Dove chocolate.
review 2: Not sure where to start with this review. I just wasn't a fan of it and usually I like YA romance books but this wasn't for me. I was recommend this book by a friend who gave it 5 stars so that is how
... moreI knew about it. I think it was on sale the week I got it. So I think I am just out a $1 and some of my time. Recently I have been griping about books with male leads and the male lead is emasculated. Its one of my biggest pet peeves with romance/relationship books. This book was the perfect example. Grayson Lee was the sensitive, emotional, filled with lots angst, whiny, self hating male lead BUT, I am suppose to believe he's tough and girls want him. OKAY! He also was obsessed with Lily the female lead in the book where it was just not healthy. Page 21 (reading from my NOOK) "I watch her go, everything inside me pulsating with need for her, aching for her. Not just her body, but her. I want to be surrounded by her; her scent, her touch, her voice, her fury, her desire, her love. Everything. I want all of her and I can have none of her."Yeah that was from the beginning of the book. Oh and the book has as a lot of description. You can't just have one feeling you have to have plenty. At first I thought there was a word count quota to be filled. It was extremely repetitive. I got it. Grayson doesn't think he's worth being with Lily, but did we have to hear it all the time? Back to the emasculation of Grayson. I think he cried about 4 1/2 times in this book. I say 1/2 because once his tears just glisten. I'm okay with guys crying. I've seen it myself. I have two older brothers. I understand but this was just too much. I wanted to tell Grayson to grow a pair or to borrow mine. I think my ovaries are stronger. I also had to take a break from the book because he was singing along to Nickleback. Do I have to explain that? He even danced to an Avirl Lavigne song and he's that guy who will watch Pitch Perfect with you too! There was more of that constantly through the book and I just kept rolling my eyes. Like I mention, this is one of my biggest pet peeves.Lastly, the book doesn't really have an ending. You are suppose to read the sequel. Anyways, I would not recommend this book. Its a toss up between one or two stars. less
