review 1: Either you're a fan of HG or not. . .I don't think there is much room for middle ground. I love her style, enthusiasm for food and dieting. I've been mixed on her previous books - I want to like her, but the amount of processed and 'fake' food she includes in her recipes is a little scarey. While it's probably healthier (and more varied) than frozen entrees, the food often tastes pre-fab. If you're really craving chocolate, than a double choclate vita-mix muffin top might not really calm the craving, you know? This book features a lot of previously published recipes, though most of them have been re-tooled. She does provide incredibly thorough nutrition information, even for recipe variations. The best chapters for me here are the packets and crock pot recipes. These... more feature mostly regular food, and you could serve them to people and they'd never know they were eating light. The cocktail chapter is also great, especially around the holidays. Again, those recipes generally didn't contain too many 'fake' ingredients (or at least the ones I've made) and it can help to take some of the guilt out of parties. If you like HG, this is the only book of hers that you need - everything is in here. If you're on the fence about her philosophy and way of eating, I'd take one of the smaller books out of the library first. I'm glad I read this for the few recipes I'll use, but I'm also glad I didn't buy it because it's got over 650 recipes and I don't think I'll use more than 20.
review 2: There were a lot more meals in this book than I thought there were going to be that I would even consider trying. Lisa tries to use the everyday things that would be found in a cooks pantry, or someone that is trying to eat healthy or healthier and need something quick. Some of the meals only take 30 minutes to cook and are simple to assemble. Can't wait to start cooking and experimenting with new flavors and a different way of looking at healthy eating. Now I just have to see if her other books will give me the same variety as this one. less

The best thing about this book is that it's food that the average person would eat.
