review 1: Searching Amazon showed that this series is being lumped in with chicklit mysteries, which I think does them a great disservice. It's somewhat hard to describe the series because while the main character is a private investigator in a family business and there is something approaching a central mystery to be solved over the course of the book, the real draw in the humorous writing style, the human flaws of all, but especially the main, characters, and the bouncing-around approach to narration. Honestly, they're a great read, though not exactly serious reading, and I'm sad to have finished all the books that are currently out.
review 2: One of those series that becomes progressively funnier (and more realistic, in a way), the Spellman Files delighted both my mot
... moreher and myself as we read them from year to year. With cases that in no way become too dramatic or unrealistic coupled with amusingly wonderful characters (that also have some depth and mystery) and a pinch of humor, this is one of the funniest mysteries (or just comedies) you could want. less
