review 1: It stared out slow. The whole Si-Fi twist to this story. I didn't think I would be able to get into it. This story has a lot of twist and turn to it, but once you get it into it it's hard to put down. I'm glad I stuck it out and finished it. It was worth it to learn what happens to Michael and Cassandra. And I can't wait to read Sterling's story in The Renegade Conquest. Sterling and Caleb became my favorite when reading this book.

She is uncomfortable with how they were injected (unknowingly). General Powell – gets too power hungry… perhaps motivated at first with desire to protect his country, but evolved to need to be one of absolute control of the world… losses are acceptable. After Zodius rebels, he works to develop the Red Dart (also alien technology) that creates a permanent tracking beacon inside an individual and when subjected to sound waves causes pain – torture in order to control the soldiers. He wants complete control over all of the GTECH’s and new ones he plans on making.Michael Taylor aka The Dark One aka – one of the strongest GTECH’s; has an affinity with the wind (more than just windwalking – where fade into the wind and invisibly travel) – he communicates with the wind and more seamlessly ‘melts’ into it. An X2, and he feels his darkness, but keeps a handle on it. Lifebound with Cass, but he does not feel worthy and does not want to contaminate her.Jocelyn Taylor – Michael’s mother… his father’s company sold weapons –to both sides… his mother, a research scientist, takes over the business and alienates her son… Powell uses her to develop the Red Dart.Caleb and Adam Rain – twins; soldiers; Caleb is good, Adam is evil – wanting to take over the world, making humans slaves; when X2’s to be imprisoned, Adam makes his move, causing a split with the GTECH’s ; Caleb wants Red Dart to force Adam and Michael on his side. Adam’s lifebound mate is as evil as he is, pregnant, and they are kidnapping women and forcing them into sex with the GTECH rebels looking for other lifebound mates - Sterling –GTECH compute tech guy, funnyBrock – Powell’s man – wants to be GTECH – trying to get Powell, and/or Adam to inject him – making bargains where he think it will benefit him… Summary:One story is the story of how the GTECH’s came to be… how they came to be split… how their power might end up in good for the world or evil – and all because of one man – Powell – and his desire for power. The other story is of Cassandra and Michael… Michael didn’t feel worthy, Michael is afraid of his power, Michael is afraid to embrace Cassandra and make her like him – he does not trust himself. Cassandra does her best to reassure Michael, to be self-sufficient, to trust him – even when he disappears for 2 years with Caleb and without a word… and she is there for him… waiting to complete the bond. less
