review 1: I absolutely loved the second installment in Livia Ellis' Gigolo series. You can't help but love Oliver, the down-on-his-luck Englishman who'd much rather be living a life of leisure, wearing Wellies and meandering through the countryside with his hounds. As it happens, Oliver is in training to be a gigolo, something he's not altogether opposed to, thanks to his love of sex. His adventures are almost madcap as he visits doctors and stylists and shops for the necessities of his trade. Of course there is sex in the book- all sorts of sex - and not only is it rather hot, but laugh-out-loud funny in parts. Oliver's sexcapade with the two blond women ("Are they Dutch or Danish?") had me rolling in the aisles. And his descriptions of meeting the female prostitutes who live in hi... mores house were insanely funny. Even though he is a shallow character in a sense, you root for him and want him to succeed. And when he's having sex with all and sundry, you feel his bliss. Livia Ellis has a dry wit and it shines in this book. It ends on a cliffhanger, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment. As an aside, I must say this: while about to finish this book, my Kobo died. Knowing I might not learn how the story ended, I almost died with it. Bravo, Livia Ellis.
review 2: I really enjoyed part one, and part two was even better. The plot is thickening, more layers are added to Oliver's character, and the escapades he gets involved in get even wilder. The more I read, the more I root for Oliver to get his life in order and achieve his goals. The sex is fine and interesting, but I'm invested in Ollie and Olga and wondering what's going to happen to the two of them. This series has turned into so much more than I expected. On to the next! less
