review 1: The BDSM struck me as a cover to allow a professional woman to lust after (and therefore fall in ove with?) an experienced player who seems to only know how to sexually bowl over a woman like a sex object. Jack has a raw attractiveness for a strong, confident, sexually charged type of man, but I didn't see Sara's basic lust evolve into any type of "love" and/or even a submissive's/bottom's trust for a Top/Dominant. (In fact, she emoted quite the opposite feeling.)Those who like a story of a usually steady but somewhat lonely professional woman falling for a strutting, provocative, take charge, "company cocksman" might really enjoy this story. It's well written and I understand Jack's character will be very attractive to some readers. I personally needed more than Jack's... more inner dialog, obscene text messages, and very sporadic heated encounters to see why Sara would want him for more than a hot lay.
review 2: I'll give it a 2.5 because there are a few hot scenes in it but I can't say I found Sara very likable- almost all of her issues were her own doing. Jack was only slightly better, but he was also kind of an idiot. Frankly, they deserve each other. The people with the most rounded character development were peripheral at best. Sara's brother was an asshat, and I personally thought Craig was kind of creepy/pathetic. I was so frustrated with the whole thing that by the end- which kind of sneaks up on you that I could not manage any real enthusiasm for the sequel- I would have been irritated if I actually paid for this book but it is free on Amazon right now so there is that. There was also very very light BDSM in it- I was expecting a little bit more based on the blurbs. As fo the actual narrative- while I do enjoy Liz Crowe's writing style- it is very fluid and brings a sense of realism to the book, the time jumps and a few sloppy transitions definitely mess with the pacing and make it a tad confusing at time.******SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER***********The other thing that bothered me was that the "attack" on Sara was completely unnecessary for this story. There was virtually no fallout from it, it did not effect any of her interpersonal relationships at all, and was there simply so Craig could "rescue" her. A fender-bender on a dark and stormy night or a break-in would have accomplished almost the exact same thing. I don't have problems with assault story lines if they are going to be served well...it is a very real issue that gets swept under the rug far too often but it deserves way more attention than it got in this book. There was no point to it, and using it as a way to make a comparison between 2 men was cheap. less
