review 1: The subject of this book--cord blood--is of much interest to me, but I immediately thought that this is so much like a Jodi Picoult book, but not as well written. In reading other people's reviews, many remarked that it is better-written that Picoult's books. So, a difference of opinion, or a result of the fact that it's been a few years since I've read a book by Picoult. Either way, this was an enjoyable book and I intend to read more by both Jodi Picoult and Liz Rosenberg.
review 2: I chose this book because I was interested in the account of the medical-legal-moral issues associated with the situation, however I was thoroughly disappointed by the telling/writing of the story. The characters seem to have gone missing. This book felt like a concept/situatio
... moren/idea forced onto the page, instead of characters and action and dialogue and passion enlivening and making the story lift off the page. There were a lot of tangential moments that did not serve an obvious narrative purpose. For example, there was a lot of time spent throughout the novel talking about driving through heavy traffic on Long Island. This seemed boring and very unnecessary. I felt mislead by various summaries and accolades I read prior to purchasing the novel. less

I enojyed the book immensely! My only complaint is that there were a few story lines left dangling.
