review 1: This story was interesting because of the country the main characters find themselves in is built upon the backs of slaves--sylph slaves and poor humans. Spoilers alert..... So the ending is especially satisfying to see justice win out and the evil regime get its just desserts. My only problem with it is that the plot broke all the rules related to sylphs set up in the previous novel. If you don't mind that, it was a very enjoyable read.
review 2: This wins a 3.75* rating, and the only reason I'm not giving it a 4 is the time it takes to tell the story.I truly enjoy this story. The book takes a looong time to tell it, though. As I read, I couldn't help but wonder whether the story really needed to be that long.... Great characters, great HEA, great world (I did... moren't read the first Sylph book and I managed to muddle through this book just fine. A few times, I had to base my understanding on some illusive context clues, and I imagine those things would've been better explained in book #1, but w/e.)So, great story. Drawn out a bit, but great. Not sure I'll re-read, though... less
