review 1: The main mouse--Hildegarde tries to keep the burgeoning parish mouse population from meeting their collective fate through the Great X. We had high hopes for this one, coming off the charming "TumTum and Nutmeg" series. We were disappointed. There were some good moments--the phone book scene was great and had my kids giggling--but mostly we were slogging through it, waiting for the action to start happening. We didn't finish it, though, so maybe it gets better towards the end...?
review 2: “Bless this Mouse” is a story about a group of mice who live inside of a church. After a life of comfort, the mice get their first taste of turmoil when they become too careless and find themselves in the presence of humans. The story is filled drama and suspense. It teac... morehes about the qualities of a good leader and also about the importance of sticking together. This would be an excellent book to use for a reader’s theatre script. Students can choose their own sections of the story and write scripts for them. The students would then act out their scenes informally in front of the class. less
