review 1: It was what the synopsis promised. I like how he gets Lucy's POV first and then all the people associated with the story put in their two cents and it fleshes out the story more. Jaime's bit was quite well done. I like the ending too. Not a huge fan of the writing style, since it felt all deja vu or dreamy somehow, but it worked for the subject. It was a nice reminder that you usually see people at their best and don't always know what goes on behind the scenes, especially when you don't stay in touch daily.
review 2: A quiet book which drew me in and kept me interested until the end. I like the way the story of the marriage is presented in this book. You feel like a fly on the wall as Phillip, the narrator, does his research on the failed marriage between Luc
... morey and Thomas. Poor Lucy, she has such an abrasive, self absorbed personality. I did not like her. Thomas, well, he is dead so all we get are the recollections of friends and family (who all seemed to love him). I was neutral on him. I wonder what my thoughts would have been if he had been there to tell his side of the story. Phillip has such an elegant way about him. I was definitely taken with him and want to read about his marriage with Bella! less

Well-written, but just couldn't care about any of the characters or the story line.

Exquisitely crafted work that perfectly captures a certain time, a certain class.

This is indeed an elegantly written, but odd, little book
