review 1: A great read in which the tension builds and warning - you will find this book hard to put down! I wouldn't say this was literature, but it is very well-written. From the beginning, I had the overwhelming feeling that our actions, in this case: Yvonne's actions, have a way of catching up with us. The insight into what makes people do what they do is equally as great as the gripping story telling.
review 2: A bit of a slow-burner for me, but the book picked up pace after about 100 pages in, and then I read greedily, hungrily, like I do with the ones I love. A very well-written book, with little nuggets of truth that taunt the reader every few pages, this book also caused me to question the quick moral judgements I make, at places. The only sense of frustration
... moreI had was, towards the end, Yvonne, did you still have to persist in thinking of your Mr.X as the love of your life, even after you found out he was weak and a serial adulterer who lived mostly in his head? But then, the last page shook that frustration a bit, as well. The question I am left with, as I often am, is when you close the pages of a book and its world refuses to leave you, for good or for bad, then is the book a triumph? less

This was supposed to be the British equivalent of 'Gone Girl.' Umm, nope.

Jeez, this was intense! A totally unnerving, thought-provoking thriller.

This book was very spellbinding. It felt very disturbing as well.
