review 1: Louise Bagshawe used to be my guilty pleasure author. I'm not a huge fan or chicklit and romance novels, but I have always been able to devour books by both her and her sister Tilly. So when I saw that she had a new book out under her married name, I had to buy it instantly in the hopes that it would be everything I expected. Well it didn't disappoint. Beauty has the strong female character overcoming her troubled circumstances and making something of herself. Yes, it's very similar to all her other books, but it's still great to read a book that empowers the female lead to create a new life and career for herself, rather than just watch her try to find love/marriage/children/great shoes (*delete as applicable*) as in most other chicklit books. Yes, of course she does end ... moreup with a perfect husband, but at least there's more too in than normal.
review 2: Dina Kane was born unloved by her mother who even begrudged her a good education. Dina is beautiful & this made men leer & lust over her & one man goes to far & uses her terribly. Dina has her revenge but now he wants his. Dina is good at one thing BEAUTY & the business of beauty. Good plot, plenty of good characters & if you like make-up & beauty tips this is the one for you.
