review 1: Oh gosh where to start? I need to leave off the fairies for awhile, they are making me jaded. This book smacks you in the face right off the bat with two of the plot crutches I hate most. A blatant and pointless love triangle and blatant and unapologetic insta- love. And no, prophecy/fate does absolutely nothing to improve the effect of baseless all consuming attraction on the story. That my friends is called lust. Dress it up fancy but when MC lays eyes on other MC and mystical forces = can't keep their hands/lips off each other -it just means the author was too lazy to write a real love story. You know where they actually develop a relationship? Based on something besides, hes so hot- his eyes are hot- his bod is hot- he has MUSCLES- drool........ Oh and you know maybe ta... morelk a bit before the clothes starts falling off? Gosh what a concept. It didn't even bother to avoid the major cliches either-one of which is the bad boy ice prince. Oy. Been there done that. In Iron Fey for example and trust me that ice prince wasn't that impressive either (mostly just an animated hot bod much like Ryder) but the book was at least well written and original enough to force you to tolerate him for awhile. Plus Puck was waaaaaay more engaging than the golden boy in this book. This one is dead in the water peeps, I'm moving on.
review 2: I love this author’s writing style, and it’s amazing how the story flows. Calista the Princess of the Summer Court has powers. She controls the earth, fire, water and air. Her childhood friend Merrick becomes her guardian and at the festivities celebrating his guardianship, Calista notices Ryder the Prince of the Winter Court, and he immediately steals her heart. A dark sorcerer, Alasdair has other plans in mind, to steal Calista’s power and to make her his Dark Queen. He wants to take over the Land of the Fae. According to the Prophecy proclaimed hundreds of years ago, Princess Calista is destined to change the Land of Fae and to rescue it from the evil sorcerer who was determined to destroy it. less
