review 1: This was our July Book Club book. Again, I would not have chosen to read this title however I really enjoyed it. It is the story of a woman married to a control freak, who is verbally abusive to her & their children. He eventually forces her to sever all ties with her family - they are "dead" to her. The ending you get to write yourself! I can't say much more without spoiling the book - I do recommend it.
review 2: A very dark and chilling story that kept me enraptured from the very beginning. I love the characters of Clare, Paul and Grit. Anne is quite an enigma to me-- I don't know how she finally had the strength to stand up to her abusive husband Frederick and how she allowed him to hurt their children so much emotionally and physically.
