review 1: Awesome book. It was slow occasionally but a great read. I am still thinking about it s I write this and I finished the book late last night. It is about two sisters who defied the Fascists and Nazis in Italy during World War II as well as the present time murders of partisans from World War II. Everything is connected and it is really hard to describe without telling the whole story. I just recommend you read.
review 2: I'll admit, it was the cover that motivated me to buy the book. I'm a sucker for anything Italy - especially Florence. Though the story was a bit confusing at times, trying to keep all the characters straight and see the different connections they shared, it was a good read. After reading so much about the sisters and their struggles, it
... morewas impossible to not care about them throughout the story. To see the story develop and the path it traveled, was very interesting. If you have any kind of connection to Italy, and like me, can't get enough, I'd recommend this book. less
