review 1: HEATSEEKER by Lucy Monroe is an interesting Contemporary Romance. #6 in the "Goddard Project". This was my first in this series, and I did not find it hard to keep up with or follow. "Always ready, always deadly" is the Atrati motto. They are a mercenary Black Operatives group who specializes in doing things others can not..."Heatseeker" is Rachel Gannon,a former DEA agent and Kadin Marks,a former Marine Sergeant's story. It is a rather fast paced story with plenty of action, suspense, and passion. Rachel blames herself for the death of her sister, and she does not want to be rescued, she wants to bring down an organization she also blames for her sister's death. But at what cost? Her cover has been blown. Kadin's mission is to get Rachel out alive, but what he doesn't know o... morer was not informed is that Rachel doesn't want out..not yet.Can love help to mend both Kadin and Rachel? Both have deep wounds and dark pasts. An interesting read! Received for an honest review from the publisher.RATING: 4HEAT RATING: MILDREVIEWED BY: AprilR, Review courtesy of My Book Addiction and More
review 2: It's very rare (strike that- never) I don't slog it out and finish a First Reads book. But I just couldn't do it.I found the dialogue difficult to follow. Sometimes I couldn't tell who was talking to who, and found the names of some of the characters (Cowboy) seemingly appeared from nowhere without any explanation as to why they have those names and who they are.I found it annoying that our 'hero' effectively abandoned the heroine (or so it seems from what I've read) and expects to be welcomed back into her life like he's gods gift to women. In general I found a lot of the characters hard to relate to, I found the dialogue confusing and the flow of the story to be here there and everywhere.I am sad, as I hate to give up on a book. But after around five or six aborted attempts over the course of months I had to say enough was enough and give it up as a bad job. It's probably just me being dead inside however- I notice this book has good reviews in general. So, sorry book, it's me, not you, I'm sure. less
