review 1: Wow. This author did the A to Z S&M playbook for the sex scenes. Very hot, but very painful (pleasurable) for the characters. Here is what I liked: the characters, the sex). What I didn't like was the overall development of Gabe. I also didn't like how Gabe's stepfather was dealt with by Trace, Ben and Micah. Having said that - I do recommend the read if you like m/m and m/m.m and m/m/m/m and pain and pleasure. I am in for the series now. My hope for the future books in this series will be the author tightening up their writing and providing more character communication and growth.
review 2: This might have been a 4 or even 5 star read, but for the switch that happens halfway through. I'm instantly turned off by switches and if you feel the same, don't
... morewaste your money. Here is a case where the author created a great dungeon/playroom, a wonderful sub and a wonderful Dom but then went ahead and messed with it, all in the name of character growth, I assume. Yes, I love to see characters grow and evolve in their awareness, but not to the extent of changing roles entirely. It blows the suspended belief I've built up. Indeed it was good to see a Dom with vulnerabilities and a 'backstory' instead of the stereotype, but switching roles throughout a good deal of the book is going too far...for me, anyway. less
