review 1: The only thing that kept me from giving this book one star was the H's mother and step-father. They were lovely and well written, and I managed to finish the book simply to see what happened with them.Dante's aggressive sexual behaviour toward Topsy was more suited toward a villain than the H of a romance. The way he treated Topsy - physically manhandling her, verbally overriding her when she said no, telling her that he didn't really believe her objections to sleeping with him because she didn't say them with enough conviction - made me physically uncomfortable as they reminded me of many of the warning signs of an abuser, which is probably not at all what the author intended. I hope.
review 2: Lynne Graham usually has heroines I like from beginning to end.
... more This is the first LG book where it took me ages to warm to a heroine.Challenging Dante is the last book in a series about sisters. I really hoped Topsy's book would be the best. It wasn't. I should have known from the title the heroine, Topsy, would be annoying by always challenging the hero. What really annoyed me was Topsy was so judgmental towards the hero without ever knowing him. That grated. It caused me to struggle to get thru those early chapters. At least the hero based his opinions on Topsy after talking to a person who gave him info on her. It was wrong info but at least he formed an opinion on her from a person and not from complete ignorance.I also didn't like all the secrets kept from the hero. His mother, the heroine kept those secrets and for no good reason! The hero had a good relationship with his mother. What she did made no sense.Another thing I didn't like was the time span of the romance. It was too short.I did like the resolution. The hero & heroine talked. Their hea was believable.I liked seeing the characters from previous books show up.I liked the hero was possessive. He didn't cheat after meeting the heroine.I liked the heroine was still a virgin. The hero was her first & only lover. The ending was nice. While Challenging Dante is no keeper it was an ok read. less
