review 1: (Really 3.5 stars). I thought this was fun. Not to be taken to seriously, a horror romp featuring quite a few clever references to cultural icons. There's a dark sense of humour, a multifaceted narrative, and things are not as they are at first appear. Unsurprisingly, cats dominate the narrative. But certainly not ordinarily cats. It reminded me and places of Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita. A short, light, amusing read.
review 2: I read this in a couple of sittings - it's a short read. It's quite amusing - personally I think it's only for cat lovers (that's not a bad thing you know) - it all got a bit silly - but then again us true cat lovers can tolerate most things if a cat's at the heart of it all! I've always had doubts about the true inner thoughts
... more of a couple of cats that we've had over the years (yes, one of which was black).... maybe Truss has given me the explanation at long last... though I did always suspect right from the beginning that two of my loved felines have been the devil incarnate :) less
