Review
I’m going to preface this by stating, I don’t read comics very often… if at all. Yes, I do read graphic novels and manga, but not comics. (My difference between graphic novels and comics being the page time for the story to develop.)
The short storyline irked me a bit as I am used to having a lot more pages in each chapter of a graphic format, but I adjusted quickly to this short, brief format.
As for the story itself, I loved it. It was wonderful seeing a superhero come from a marginalized religion and culture. The illustrations were clean and well-drawn, and the story itself pulled on those cultural aspects that make this one unique and fantastic superhero.
I would definitely recommend Ms. Marvel to fans of comic books!
About the Author
“I read my first superhero comic at age 9 when I was given an X-Men themed anti-smoking booklet in 5th-grade health class. It must have worked because I never took up smoking. I decided I wanted to be a writer. It’s all been downhill from there. ”
