review 1: I just finished Knight of my dreams by Lynsay Sands, an author I’ve been a fan of for a very long time, and to be honest, I loved every minute of this fun, endearing story. While I’m a lover of full-length novels, this short story hit the spot, as it seems, everything Ms. Sands writes, does.Sir Jonathan Fairley, an exceptional hero, tall, handsome, and brave, if not a bit contrary, meets his match in Lady Alice. I loved Alice, as she was smart, warm, and quick-witted. I couldn’t put this book down and when finished, I wanted to read anything by Ms. Sands that I could get my hands on.This is definitely must read.Fun, romantic, and heartwarming. One of my favorite reads of the year.
review 2: Absolutely charming - do not miss it! Actually rated 4.5! Taken fr
... moreom my review at RomanceJunkies.com:Jonathan, the Lord of Fairley, has been called to court and ordered by the king to choose a bride within two weeks or one will be chosen for him. Furious, he believes, at first, that his mother had a hand in the king’s demand. After all, she has been throwing women at him, introducing him to daughters of friends, or any unattached female she can find, since she is desperate for grandchildren. Up until now, he has managed to sidestep her every move, but suddenly, she seems disinterested in his marital status. She has begun primping, something she hasn’t done since the death of his father, as well as courting a pompous fool at court. Additionally, his mother has dissuaded him from becoming involved with Anne, the daughter of her new friend, although this curvaceous lady, with hair the color of a sunset, intrigues him. Lady Alice of Houghton was betrothed in the past, but her fiancé succumbed to the plague, along with several members of her family. She cannot help being attracted to Jonathan, whose mother had described him as being tall, dark and handsome, an apt description as far as Alice is concerned. But Alice knows she is not the type that interests men. She is too voluptuous, too strong minded and too intelligent, not to mention her penchant for reading. She also cannot understand why Jonathan’s mother, who is usually so sweet whenever her son is not around, suddenly seems cold towards her in his presence. There is also the mystery of why his mother is unexpectedly so warm towards Alice’s uncle, who is something of a court dandy. Alice is surprised when Jonathan’s mother asks her to make a list of eligible women at court in order to help Jonathan find a bride.Although Jonathan’s mother tries to keep him and Alice apart, finding a bride for him throws them into each other’s company from time to time. Soon the two are barely able to keep their hands off each other. Will his mother’s plans backfire when she goes a bit too far? A hilarious tale, KNIGHT OF MY DREAMS, a delightful novella by bestselling author Lynsay Sands, is a reissue. Previously published in the anthology, A MOTHER’S WAY, under the title MOTHER, MAY I, this witty, sensual historical romance will leave you with a smile on your face. I loved the humorous banter and one-upmanship between Jonathan and his mother and her attempts at matchmaking. Although this is a short read, there is a lot of story within these pages. Just seeing the name Lynsay Sands was enough to lure me into reading this novella and I am so glad I did. Absolutely charming, this story is a great afternoon’s escape!Dottie, RomanceJunkies.com less
