review 1: Maybe 1 1/2 stars. The last several pages Started to get interesting, but of course was cut short. I wish she (Ms. Sands)had been as quick to cut 3/4 of the rest of the book as short! I could have done without scene after scene of her thinking he was gay and him bitching because she thought he was gay and his meddling family trying to convince him to let her think he was gay.... you get the idea yet? Boring times ten!
review 2: Setting: St Lucia Resort – villa, dinner club, day cruise boat, beach, Theme: removing barriers to connect… and find true love;Characters:Christiana Caroline ‘Caro’ Johnson Connor Carver (Argeneau): 42 years old, vacationing in San Lucia; father beat mother… mother took daughter and ran… worked jobs where paid under table
... more to protect daughter – so money always tight, moved regularly; college roomed with 2 other women, and a gay man – they were all best of friends, and she evolved into his beard; she became a lawyer… her mother died of cancer… her father, dying, finally tracks her down… and she inherits his ad agency and a lot of money;Christian Notte: hard-rock violin player extraordinaire; gets call from mother to bring the cousins’ band and play; on their way in, they speculate mom has found his lifemate; handsome; kind hearted; a bit socially awkward; Marguerite Argeneau Notte / Julius Notte: on their honeymoon, reached San Lucia; when meet Caroline at dinner, she knows she is perfect for Genie; Julius indulgently happy to share their honeymoon, and to try to bring Christian together with his lifemate;Zanipolo / Giacinta (Hunter) / Santo (drummer - martyr) / Raffaele: cousins, all play musical instruments for the pleasure of it; come running when Marguerite calls – eager to help Christian on his road to romance; funny scenes with handsome/ long haired Zanipolo – who is Caro’s 1st though when Gia tells her one of the 3 male cousins is gay, and he outraged and looking for ways to prove his masculinity to her…; Gia is the one who plants the seeds with Caro that Christian is gay, and needs a beard after Caro confides that part of her college years with her;Genie / Bethany / male gay: Roommates with Caro in college; Genie now runs the resort; lost touch over the years, but Bethany initiates the reunion; Genie tries to make sure Caro has good time / Bethany sick most of the time, leaving Caro on her own / found the man of his dreams, and not at resort; ends up that Caro’s husband ‘connected’ with Bethany, and asked her to push a depressed Caro into suicide, or to kill her; Bethany abandons her, says things that sound helpful, but are really put downs… and she has been dating Robert, (yes Robert sought her out), and felt sorry for how terribly Caro had treated him, and agreed to try to push her into suicide, though not to kill her outright; she does give her insulin in her water – making her hypoglycemic;Captain Jack: captain of the day cruise… asked by Genie to make sure she has a good time… Bethany leaves her on the boat (claiming to be ill)… Christian takes hotel van to their 1st stop to join them… but after an intimate kiss between Christian and Caro that scares Caro, she allows Captain Jack dominates her time… getting her drunk… getting her into the shake your booty competition (which she wins)… then he takes her out on a date 2 nights later… and tries a goodnight kiss, she tells him it was a good kiss, but Christian kisses her and it’s out of this world… and he escorts her to Christian’s villa – telling her to fight for such a good thing;Robert Conner: scuzbucket with a small penis; though we don’t meet him, he a great problem for Christian to overcome with Caro;Summary:Marguerite’s intuition is at it again… and she brings Caro and Christian together…Two big obstacles to be overcome – Caro’s low self esteem and desire to stay away from relationships and Caro’s age; Sex, for Caro, is pleasant – she’s never felt real passion; and here comes Christian – who can’t keep his eyes off her… but when his cousin Gia, when they are having girltalk in the restroom between sets, gets to her to tell her about her gay friend in college and being his beard, Gia decides to tell her Christian is gay, and needs to keep his macho family from finding out – so perhaps Caro could be his beard. She agrees… and some sweet scenes as they get to know one another, as he tries to hide his attraction to her (impromptu swim in ocean, running off bus after shared kiss, cousins interrupting them) – as they kiss (to convince his family they are together) that can’t help but get out of control; but friendship and trust grow; Christian does his level best not to lie to her, and we get lots of half truths – but not about his feelings; they do have shared hot sex dreams; Caro feels safe with him; but when she decides she is going nuts, being attracted to him, she decides she just needs some sex… poor Christian, trying to run interference as she tries to get together with Captain jack… Christian is finally fed up… and tells her he is not gay – that his cousin said it so they would have a chance to get to know each other without her age bothering her… and they have fantastic sex… though he keeps her hands tied with scarves, so she can’t touch him, and experience the shared feelings in sex… and they both pass out each time… she finally wakes up before him… sees self in mirror, and scares self off… Captain jack date… he dumps her back with Christian… another night of passion (and a promise she not leave until they talk)… go downstairs in am and she sees cousins with blood bags on teeth… thinks vampires… she runs again… finds out Bethany trying to get her depressed and suicidal – Christian shows up… and she realizes she trusts him… and between passing out after sex, she gets the major questions answered satisfactorily…Caro’s back story with almost ex-husband - right before he found her, she meets a charming man, she’s lonely, and she quickly succumbs to his charm, and goes to vegas to get married – return to learn her dying father wants to leave her everything – she is confident husband married her for herself, not money – for how could he know; but… he complained of her snoring, his lack of sleep until she volunteered to sleep in a different room – they stopped having sex after 2 years, and he became quite critical; he is her VP (ad agency) of business inherited; business does well… when married 5 years, a PI client comes, sees her husband… and after questioning her timing of meeting her husband, the client tells her that her husband worked for him 6 years earlier, assigned to track her, had a family crisis, left company, saying that he didn’t find her… called 6 weeks later and admitted he hadn’t done a stellar job… and they found her for her father… she realizes his duplicity, and initiates a divorce… 2 years later, his trying to get more than half of her income, threatening to ‘expose’ her… but when she finally calls him on it, he backs down and agrees to divorce…Memorable Scenes:Christian having to pretend to be gay was incredibly hilarious. There were so many moments when I found myself cracking up out loud. Between Christian’s cousin Zanipolo trying to prove that he wasn’t the gay one, Marguerite doing her match-making, and Julius stepping in to try and help his son woo his lifemate, there were lots of giggles. I liked the whole charade and thought it worked well, both with Carolyn’s character and the story overall. less

The series gets better and better, Now Marguerite Argeneau Notte is going to help her second oldest rediscovered son Christian to get his lifemate, a 40 something thats going through a divorce, on her and Julies honeymoon. Little does Christian know what hell he will have to go through to claim Carolyn as his own. It have lots of laugh out loud humor, lots of sexual frustrations on Christian's parts and Carolyn's battle with age different, thinking Christian is the 20 something young lover to her cougar years but she finds out towards the end how young she really is compered to his 500 years of age.

I believe this is one of Lynsay Sands funniest books. Marguerite Argeneau-Notte does her usual matchmaking, on her own honeymoon this time and for her son Christian. However because of what Carolyn sees as a huge age difference she is fighting her attraction to Christian with everything in her and obviously losing, because the nano's are never wrong. His cousin Gia comes up with one heck of a lie to help Carolyn feel more comfortable around Christian, and then the fun begins. The laughing never seemed to stop while the lie is playing out. This book is highly recommended.
