review 1: I would have given this a higher rating if the ending had an epilogue. Herman's character is not tied up nor is Mead. And why walk out with nut case Herman when Dr. Alexander just got there, without even 2 minutes of conversation? bizarrely awful ending but I did enjoy the book till then as I have a son who skipped the 6th grade recently. However, he is not being picked on at all, and it makes no sense that Mead would not mention something about his school life to his dad or Percy or someone.
review 2: This was an intriguing book about a young mathematical genius and his life experiences on an accelerated academic schedule. Mead, the genius, suffers greatly from being younger than his peers. What makes his story so interesting is that the characters are real
... moreand emotionally complex. You also wonder all along what exactly happened to make Mead run home from college a few days before graduating. The book is written in a style that jumps around in time quite a bit, so it can be somewhat confusing, but it helps add to the suspense. less

I kept waiting for the book to get better. Nope. It was horrible. What a waste of time.

OK story but I couldn't stop thinking that it took place in the 50s instead of the 80s.

Great book until the last few pages as the ending was a let down.

I hate this book more than any book I have ever read.
