review 1: "The only true path is the maintenance of headway." Thank you Magnus Mills for this hilarious romp through the life of a bus driver in a big city in the UK. Isn't it a hidden dream for a lot of men to drive the buses? This book made me feel like I was right there, in the staff canteen, drinking mugs of tea with the lads, waiting for the next shift. The character Jason is hilarious. I almost gave five stars for the last lines.

The Maintenance of Headway is simply a series of incidents interspersed with conversations on the operation of buses - principally the maintenance of headway. It's short, incredibly clear and direct and almost poetic. It seems to be a condensed version of the, rather more plot fi... morelled, Scheme for Full Employment. It's rare to find something so very different and so entertaining. Top marks, but don't expect more than 90 minutes entertainment. less
