review 1: I really enjoyed this one. It was different, pretty realistic. It bothered me a great deal, the hero of the story hates her it seems, but is " in love" with her because of who she is. Hes afraid of her most of the time, but cant help but want to help her. It was a pretty realistic idea. I think we would all be like that. We would want to go away, to forget, but be drawn back. Human nature/curiosity. I kept wanting him to change but he didnt. Its who he is. As with some books, i kind of feel like i didnt have things totally explained to me. So im hoping the next one clears up some of the muddy water for me. The book does cut off/end in kind of an odd place. You kinda wonder whats going on. But it didnt leave me going oh my god what next! Maybe it wasnt that kind of keep me... more up wondering for the next few weeks, kind of book. But i will be on the lookout for the next one.
review 2: I don't summarize plots in my reviews because so many others do and it becomes redundant. I came across this book when it was free for the Kindle, and I decided to give it a try. I don't make it to actually reading a lot of the free Kindle books because they don't hold my attention, but this book held my interest and I read it straight through. I like it, and I think if it was just edited better it would be a real contender in this genre. The mythology is well developed and the plot is as well. The book does have quite a bit of typos and grammatical errors that I'm sure are just due to inadequate editing, other wise I'd bump it up to 4 stars.I enjoyed it enough and my interest is piqued enough to look forward to the second book. If I was the author, I would seriously go back and edit this book for the grammar and typos, and maybe a little bit for the content and clarity, then I would just keep moving forward on the developing story and mythology because she's created a fantastic world here. This is a good book! It has been my favorite of the Kindle freebies I have tried and I believe the author is going to have a worthy trilogy on her hands. I highly recommend people to overlook the flaws and read this book for enjoyment. I rather like it! less

This started as a kinda fun little melodrama and ended as a needlessly complicated mess.
