review 1: I love this story and the history behind it. For those who don’t know, this is the first story Marcia wrote, for a close friend of hers. How lucky to have a friend write a book for you, what an honor. This is a sweet regency-type story. Annette goes to work as a governess for Lord Barrett, taking care of his young sister. There is plenty packed into this little gem, we have a ball, a robbery, an attack, an attempted seduction and a sweet happily ever after. I do think her heroes got better as she wrote and the romance could have been developed a little more. But, if you take the story for what it was and its intended purpose it’s just a fun romp and a pleasant way to pass some time. In the author’s notes she mentions this is her least favorite story she’s written, ... morewhich is crazy because it is one of my favorites. Maybe I just have a soft spot for regencies, but I really enjoyed the overall plot for this one. It’s a quick read, but it’s full of charm and even a small love-triangle. I liked that there was some conflict in their relationship that had to be overcome. Cute story, likable characters and great kissing! I hope that one day little Andrea will get her own story.
review 2: This was a cute story and neat that it was Marcia's very first, and how she made her start, but it definetely wasn't my favorite. I'm not sure how it was lacking, but I just know it didn't make me think about it all day and feel giddy over it like her other books do. I guess maybe if this had been the first one of Marcia's books I'd read I'd probably have liked it more, but compared to her others, it's just lacking something. It's a sweet, cute story though. less
