review 1: I admit that there are some aspects to this book that I wonder about. I seemed too easy for Bailey to eventually find someone who accepted them. However, given that this is a picture book, I also like this about it. Bailey doesn't fit into the binary gender roles we attribute to people, and this book will be a great addition to our collection of LGBTQ books. I look forward to the conversations it will inspire.
review 2: Every night, Bailey dreams of 10,000 dresses. Her parents won't help her make any dresses because she is a boy. The tale of Bailey's quest for the dresses of her dreams is heartbreaking. In the end, however, Bailey makes a friend who accepts her and helps her make the dresses she desires. The illustrations are collages, which fit the choppy, sha... morerp messages that Bailey receives from those around her. This book would be good for children who are transgender. It won't serve to educate parents or classmates, though. It is pretty much, as one reviewer put it, bibliotherapy. less
