review 1: The best of the three I've read so far. Though Sedgwick's Third Doctor dialogue sometimes feels more fitting for the First Doctor (particularly the over-use of "my dear"), the story itself is very much in the spirit of the Letts era. If the rushed bits (which is what's keeping me from giving this four stars) were fleshed out a bit more, this could be turned into a full-length serial reminiscent of "The Daemons" or "The Time Monster" (which I realize is not a ringing endorsement for some fans, but I think it's an underrated story).
review 2: This is book 3 in Doctor Who 50th Anniversary E-Shorts, this is called The Spear of Destiny. It is written by Marcus Sedgwick. This E-Short features the Third Doctor and hit companion Jo Grant. It also features a minor appea
... morerance of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. It also has a surprise appearance of the Master. This E-Short is about the Third Doctor and Jo Grant and how they have to steal the Gungnir from a museum but fail to steal it due to it being guarded too well. The Third Doctor and Jo Grant head back in time to get it there instead of present day for UNIT. When there in the past things seem to be quite wrong. The Doctor ends up falling into a river and Jo ends up falling unconscious and there is a war about to spill out!I thought this was a massive improvement then the last short novel. I thought the bond between Jo and the Doctor was great. I loved the divide of the dialogue and the description in the novel! I can't wait to read the next one! I have high expectations for it. less
