review 1: I picked this book up to read because I wanted something quick and good to read that would hold my attention. Hidden in the Everglades did not disappoint me in the least. From the first page this book grabbed my attention and kept me on the edge of my seat. For a short book it packed a great punch. Throughout the book I was kept trying to figure out what Amy was up and how she was involved in the murder and why they could not find her. I also like how Michael and Kyra were helping each other as well as getting to know each other again. Even though the sheriff is not considered one of the two main characters I liked him and when he and Kyra's aunt started talking I thought that was cute. Michael and Kyra find themselves on quite the adventures trying to help Amy, you will f... moreind yourself trying to figure out where to look next for her. This is the first book I read in the Guardians Inc. series and I would gladly go back now and read the rest of the series.
review 2: When i received Hidden in the Everglades by Margaret Daley in my mailbox I was immediately intrigued by the cover, with a beautiful scene of an alligator in a foggy swamp. The intriguing part is the stamped words GUARDIANS, INC. in the corner. The first page reveals it to be a company of female bodyguards, which sounds cool. It turns out the tagline is: Born to protect, bound to fall in love, which I love! The first two chapters hooked me, with immediate action but it was all downhill from chapter three on. I was offended by the repetitive dialogue and descriptions. Then the Hero started having flashbacks which are awkwardly dropped in the middle of conversations and just took me out of the story. The few mentions of faith felt forced, like an afterthought put into the story to make it a Christian romance. I would have stopped reading it (around chapter seven, when the Hero, "slanted a look toward Kyra, her face a welcome sight to his tired eyes." Mind you, he had spent the night at her house and then spent the afternoon investigating a lead with her! Did he forget to look at her until that moment? It was the last straw for me.) but I'd received this book specifically to review it. As I got closer to the end, I kept up hope that the HEA would redeem the book from the two star rating it had plummeted to, but alas it did not. The strength in the book are in the action scenes, which are realistic and full of tension. less

This had a few twists and turns but it is not who you think the killer is.
