review 1: When Cat wins the prize of a fab wedding in a competition, she has a slight problem. Her fiance has disappeared. How long can she keep this secret from competition organiser, Fanny? Fanny is one of those characters you either love or loathe. I thought she was a fantastic creation, feisty, bossy, used to riding rough-shod over everyone and anyone but with a heart of gold. Even more likeable is Adam, whom Cat meets in the course of her work. At first antagonistic, the pair are increasingly drawn to each other - until a former girlfriend of Adam's throws a rusty spanner into the works and the erstwhile fiance returns wanting to take up where he left off. This was a warm, engaging story with a good plotline and a more than satisfactory ending.
review 2: Who doesn
... moret dream of having the perfect wedding? The heroine of this sparkling contemporary novel certainly does and when she wins a wedding competition she ought to be over the moon. But she has a slight problem – her fiancé has gone missing and it’s a bit difficult to have a wedding without a groom! This is a lovely story with a heroine the reader can truly care about and a damaged hero we’d love her to heal. I fell in love with him at the same time as the heroine – possibly helped by some of the fabulous settings (I so want to go to Italy now!) – and couldn’t wait to see how the author would get this couple together for that dream wedding. Having read and loved the author’s previous novels (historicals set partly in Dorset during the early to mid 20th century), it was an extra bonus to find references to the characters of those and to discover little hints as to what became of them. A wonderful read to cheer you up on a rainy day (or any other day for that matter)! less
