review 1: This is my first Mari Carr read, and i enjoyed it very much! I like the way the characters develop, and how minor characters, both from the previous series "Compass Brothers" and characters who will later be explored in "Compass Girls",are introduced and woven into the story... it makes me want to read both series! Winter's Thaw is a very sweet story, not overly kinky, more implied kink! There were hot sex scenes though, particularly in the barn ;D ! Sienna was a sweet, likeable character, and I rooted for Daniel from the start! A great start to the Compass Girls Series... well, I'm coming back for more ;D
review 2: I'm so glad that the authors decided to continue the Compton's stories with another series. The brothers are all married and with children and the ... moredaughters are now the focus. Sienna, Seth and Jody's daughter, is 22 and has her life planned out for her and Josh. Josh however needs a break and she's unsure of herself without a plan. Daniel has been hired to help Seth with his horse breeding program and is attracted to the boss' daughter. Sienna sees Daniel as a way to have her fling too if Josh is going to have one so its all about the sex and nothing else. But it turns out to be so much more. Vivi is much older and with old age comes forgetfulness. Turns out something worse and I'm sure it will be brought into the storyline with the other books. I like the parallel between JD and Vivi's romance and Sienna's. less
