review 1: I thought this was a great book to read on vacation given that the premise of the novel is pretty far fetched. Basically it's this, instead of committing suicide Cleopatra becomes something like part-vampire and part-immortal-god and seeks revenge on Augustus who she blames for her current state of being. The book is nicely paced so I kept turning pages even if the story isn't actually told that well. I was surprised to learn that the author also wrote the book "The Year of Yes" I'd have never guessed this given how different the two works are.

An enthralling fiction. Mystery, magic and a queen that really was. Excellent read.
