review 1: I was very disappointed in this book. It could have been good. The stories had potential. But the author's writing is all over the place and it needs some major editing. I don't know if this person has ever written another book, but if not she should stop with this one. I have read that she's a blogger, not an author. It's very obvious in this book. It's a shame she didn't know that books do not read like blogs as this could have been a very good book if it was put together properly. It was a good idea (I love dog stories) but executed very poorly. I'm marking it as 'read' but to be honest, I couldn't even get through the whole thing. Very disappointing.
review 2: It is awesome book, little bit different of what i expected from "study", but it's beaut
... moreiful. It's for sure not last time i listened to this book, i think i will repeat it at least once. stories happy or not are told with all proud of service these people and their dogs have done after long history. even in past were dogs used more to sniff out enemies, as was said, there is no tool, machine or knowledge we could use these days more efficient against hidden traps, explosives and poisons, which never choose to kill a soldier or neighbor's child, than those great animals. in recent scientists proved that dogs feel love similar as people do. would they really bet their lives if they didn't feel it? i think not, but doesn't matter. i love dogs and i know them and read them well doesn't matter if it is my dog or i see it for a first time. that's why i love this book as great tribute for animals and people who every day have chance to live their life thanks to them. less

Interesting account of soldier dogs and their role in past wars and their importance today.

Excellant. Would have liked more on WW II, but did not fit the story she wanted to tell.

This book was a good read but a little repetitive. I love dogs so it got 4 stars!
