review 1: This is a great book. Although Ash and Kitty's relationship was doomed from the start it was enjoyable and very very interesting while it lasted. I started reading this book before bed and i couldn't put it down, it captured my heart and i got so captivated with the interracial love story that i actually only got 2 hours of sleep. I even cried while reading some parts...yeah really i was bawling like a baby...lolI didn't like that at first Ash didn't politically do as he promised Kitty, that is, fight for a better life for black people. However,he made up for it in the end so it was all good.I had always wanted to read this book and i am not disappointed after reading it. I will recommend this book to all those people who love interracial romance as it is a very good book... more. Two thumbs up to Marie Mckenzie.
review 2: I love this book. It's a love story that is doomed from the beginning because of the racial injustices and barriers during this time. Jim Crow laws were very prominent during this time frame so the love between these two really captured my heart. I was kinda taken aback once the main male character became the governor and how he handled things politically because of society. He had a bi-racial son and his political views were not supportive of a change for blacks during that time. It was still a great read though. This book had my heart and mind from the first few pages. I almost cried during a few parts of the book. I dont like to tell about the story because I dont want to give anything away. I just strongly recommend this for a great read! I give it 2 thumbs and 2 big toes up! less
