review 1: I picked this book to listen to on tape because I wanted an interesting story with language that my 2-year old could here. What a pleasant surprise I had! The story of 17 year-old Mercy Kaplan is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Mercy shows bravery in the face of more adversity than most adults could handle. While I would not recommend this book to kids below middle school due to some of the circumstances, I have no problems recommending it to all others.
review 2: I'am still reading this book but so far I think it is okay. This book is kind of like a historical because it takes place in the 1900's. My personal thought of the book so far is that they should make it more clear on what happens and why the mom does what she does. Okay so I would recommend thi... mores book to people that like history. Also if you do read this book be very careful with some names they are kind of confusing. less
