review 1: Any mom will recognize herself in the day to day activities of taking care of a child, whether it’s delivering a forgotten lunch, cradling a sick child or nursing a guinea pig back to health. Moms do it because the love you.The mother-child relationship is told through rhyme with a refrain that children will repeat during a read aloud. The story is better for older children who will recognize their moms and will put themselves in the book’s story.The fun illustrations show a harried mother and a child who knows he can depend on mom through and through. Each picture shows Mom fixing whatever needs to be fixed and even though Mom may have other things going on she finds the time, the materials and the love to get the job done. Because after all, isn’t that what mom... mores do?
review 2: A good reminder for children aged 4 and up of all the ways their mom shows her love, whether it's sitting up at night with a sick hamster, dealing with a sick child or making it to a special event at school, all with the refrain "Oh, the things my mom will do... because she loves me through and through!" (I'm sure you'll hear your child chanting it with you as you progress through the book.)The illustrations fit the age group, as if a child had drawn them, and the words roll nicely off your tongue for reading out loud. There's a great rhythm there, but some of the concepts (like the speeding ticket) seem to be put in more for the adults reading the story than the child audience. All in all, a sweet book that mothers can read (and add their own stories to) while reinforcing how much their love their child.(Disclaimer: I received a free ARC from NetGallery.) less
