review 1: I've recommended this book to nearly anyone who'd listen! There are so many truly LAUGH OUT LOUD moments! Her constant internal dialogue is such a wonderful treat. A brilliant mix of humor, love interest, mystery and "OH MY GOSH" moments. Just one of Emily's thoughts, "He was my age and in my imagination he was a fireman, not the kind that actually fights fires but the kind that travels the country shirtless posing for calendars."
review 2: This was really cute and fun. The plot was silly, but it was supposed to be. Emily made relatively stupid choices several times, but she was supposed to. What mattered here, I think, is that Emily herself (even when she was being stupid), was credible and very well portrayed. She grows some over the story, but not enough
... more to make the story moralistic or heavy-handed. Nice, light reading, and not as graphic as one might think given the blurb. less
