review 1: Fortunately, did not read the reviews before reading this book. While Berendt's book covered the events in the context of the colorful drama in which they played out, Bardsley revisits this story in the analytical light of day. If you're looking for black and white absolutes don't read this book. If your looking for an interesting presentation of how the criminal justice system functions in a high profile murder case, then it's a quick, interesting read that reveals how our system of justce has little to do with facts, reasonable doubt, logic and justice; and everything to do with sloppy investigations/cover ups, media influence, staging, career boosting agendas, and jurors who look for a speedy resolution based on prejuidice and their own code of mora... morelity.
review 2: It has been 10 years since I read "midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" so this book refreshed my memory and renewed my interest in Savannah's infamous resident, Jim Williams. The writing style was more like documentation of an event than a novel but it presented a few stories I had not heard (or read)before. This book would interest someone who wants to know a little more about Mr. Williams and his life. less
