review 1: Cute story. Good characterization. The twist ending was difficult to follow (can't go into details without spoilers). It would be nice to know how common these android glitches and what causes them. After Star and Iko, glitches seems very common, but I suspect they aren't. The shipyard mechanic didn't seem concerned with the glitch, even though he considered it dangerous... Ultimately a nice addition to the Lunar Chronicles series, but I would have liked to see a deeper look into glitched androids impact on the social structures.
review 2: Wonderfully moving and satisfying take on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale "The Little Mermaid". The setting was unique and charming (kinda reminded me of WALL-E). I'm reading these two short prequel short stories
... more (Glitches being the other one) before I read Meyer's full series The Lunar Chronicles. I wanted the short stories to be a taster to see if I would like her writing style and her take on classic fairy tales, and so far I like it. It's fresh yet old, it's able to strike the balance of being emotionally engaging in a new way, but also nostalgic like the original. Mech6.0 is wonderful and I'm sure by the end of the short tale you will be feeling emotional (as I did) too. Good stuff!Onward to Cinder! less

I didn't like this one. Felt really random and the story didn't completely flow to me.
