review 1: When I read the blurb for Overwhelmed my interests were piqued, that's for sure. I knew to keep me into the story it would need to be well written. I mean let's face not just anyone can write about threesomes.I wasn't let down. I really enjoyed reading this one and if it wasn't for me having to be at work I would have finished it in one sitting. The story was well executed and some humor in it. We got the back story on the couples history and how they met back in high school, fell in love, and got married. Now years later some of the love interests seems to be fading so the husband is wanting to try new things to help spice their marriage up and keep her happy. It wasn't your normal typical spiced up scene. It was a couple never trying things before and the wife never have... more been with another man besides her husband so she wants to be protected. I kinda laughed at a part on that scene. Sorry I can't tell ya what happened, you just have to read. Anyways I was happy with the way this one turned out and I was sure we would get the complete finish to the story. Well everything still worked out how I wanted it to but now, crap I want more and can't wait until Marita comes out with book 2! Erica ~ The Book Nuts
review 2: I would describe 'Overwhelmed' as what happens after the end of the story when high school sweethearts get their HEA. It is not all peaches and cream and needs a lot of work. This is something that Kelly and Tim find out the hard way. It is a tale of lessons to be learnt, full of real life situations and colourful characters. Kelly and Tim are in a bit of rut in their relationship, with constant sources of disagreement on both sides. Tim has set up a visit for both of them to a sex club as an attempt to put some spice back into their love life. Neither of them are fully prepared for the situation they will find themselves in nor the consequences of their actions. When they find themselves having a threesome with the enigmatic Eric, neither Kelly nor Tim really wants it to happen but believing that it is what the other wants, they go through with the act. By going through with the threesome, they set in motion a chain of events that has the potential to break their relationship apart. Kelly is a self published author, who wants to proved to Tim that she can make a living from writing. While I admire her determination to succeed at her dream, she pursues it at a high cost to her family. Her relationship with Tim is crumbling without her noticing as they stop communicating. Tim is going through lots of issues himself but Kelly never seems to have time for him anymore, always on the laptop. Her teenage daughter is also going through multiple issues and rather than supporting her daughter through she enables her to continue down a path which will be destructive for her daughter. The cost of following her dream could ultimately be too high. As the reader you will either see her as a woman who is strong and confident enough to follow her dreams and the quality of life it will bring her family if she succeeds or as a woman that is so self-absorbed that she doesn't see what is happening to her family and that they need her. Tim is not absolved from blame for the situation they find themselves in. Rather than talking to Kelly about their relationship, he decides that a visit to a sex club is what their relationship needs to spice things up. He makes this decision on his own. While he is a sexy, hard working alpha male, he lacks confidence in all things Kelly, despite being together since high school. The ultimate lesson from this story is that relationships take a lot of work and open and honest communication to succeed. This book doesn't give you a HEA. Life rarely wraps things up nicely and that is what Kelly and Tim are about to discover as their story continues. less
