review 1: I've listened to Mark Levin, but this title is the first I've read of his books. I enjoyed the book because using the Constitution as our foundation, the writing laid out the history of our country from it's early birth, highlighting (in hindsight) the impactful changes that took place in the 1940's when FDR was in office to the current administration, and how far reaching and affecting the statist (mainly democratic party) has affected the functioning of this country. I consider myself an independent voter and thinker and vote the person rather than the party having voted for the democratic then the republican candidates in the last two elections as well as have voted between the two parties over the years in previous elections. But I am very concerned about what is ha... moreppening right now. in this short and captivating book on our history, I had confirmed what has bothered me so much these last several years and know we are not heading in the right direction. I will not get into my specifics, just as you all have your opinions, but I do think we all need to step up and make our opinions known more to our elected officials rather than letting the collective body in government enact laws that have a say in every part of our daily lives. How we started as a nation and how we have slowly been rocked from our original foundation is alarming scary. A house will not withstand too many moves from it's base before it will start to fall apart totally.
review 2: This is one of the best conservative books I have ever read. This is an instant classic. Mark Levin is a brilliant attorney and entertaining conservative talk show host who details the aims and goals of the Statists (sometimes referred to as a Modern Liberal). In this book, it helps the reader understand that a lot of what is going on at the moment -- an attempt to nationalize our health care system, create a cap-and-trade energy scheme, impose sky-high income taxes, are part of a bankrupt ideology that seeks to enslave the population and put them under the control of an authoritarian government. This is one of my favorite books, and every patriot should have it on his bookshelf. less
