review 1: I gave this 3 stars, but it's on the low end. This was the most "meh" book for me so far.The ending of the previous book had me anticipating something wildly different from what I got. What I got felt contrived, and disappointingly stereotypical. Considering I know Perez is capable of so much more, creatively, it would stand to reason that she could have created something quirky and wonderful, instead of typical and somewhat bland.I felt this book was more predictable than the rest. It was a little frustrating waiting for the characters to catch up, when the clues were quite obvious.Still. Still. I enjoyed this book as a light, fluffy read. It goes fast, and provides a mild entertainment. If this had been the first book in the series, I would not confidently recomm... moreend it. However, if you've made it this far in the series, you're rather at the point of no return, so go for it!
review 2: The third book in the Dead Is series. As Nightshade prepares to celebrate its 200th anniversary paranormals begin to receive blackmail letters. Daisy is determined to discover who is blackmailing her friends. But in typical Giordano fashion she also has to deal with her overprotective dad who doesn't seem to like her boyfriend, her job at Slim's, preparing for the anniversary celebration, her cooking lessons with a famous chef, and a new school counselor who she finds totally creepy - even for Nightshade. Fans of this series will enjoy this installment every bit as much as the other three. less
