review 1: Walker's French policeman, Bruno, is charming, smart, and an all around good soul who plays Father Christmas for the town children, and puts essential clues together to catch the bad guys. As an added bonus, Walker transports the reader to the French countryside with an ease only possible by someone who knows and loves the place. What's not to love? I'll definitely look for the other Bruno mysteries.
review 2: An interesting novel rotating around a policeman in the small French town of St. Denis. Between some suspicious going on's at the local truffle market, the murder of his friend, retired from the French secret service, and attacks on local Vietnamese businesses, Bruno has his hands full. He also has to deal with the attentions of an ex and current girlfr... moreiend, a heated local political campaign, and playing Father Christmas for the local children's Christmas party. Historical information about the French in Vietnam made the book even more interesting. I usually read British novels, so this was a nice change. less
