Potting Shed Mystery
review 1: Prue Parke has always wanted to live in England so when her mother dies and a long term relationship breaks up she decides to move to England with the aim of finding herself a permanent post as head gardener somewhere. She decides that if she hasn't landed the post she wants after a year then she will reluctantly return to Texas. Prue's self imposed deadline is fast approaching and while she's applied for a lot of jobs she hasn't managed to land one. She fills her time by doing one off gardening jobs and garden maintenance. Then she received a phone call from Mrs Wilson who wants her garden tidied up as quickly as possible before a dinner party and Prue must come over 'today' and see what needs doing. The garden is seriously overgrown and Prue doesn't see how she is go... moreing to be able to do very much in the time available but she agrees to do what she can. However finding a body in the potting shed does seriously disrupt her work and because of the body she meets Inspect Christopher Pearce who seems to have taken a liking to Prue and is forever rescuing her from difficult situations. Is it really a good idea to get involved with someone in England when she fears she will have to up sticks and return to Texas any day now?I enjoyed this cosy mystery and I'm pleased it is the first one in a new series with the second one being published later this year - 2014. I have already pre-ordered it! Prue is a likeable characters, the book is well plotted and the background of gardens and gardening is interesting. If you like cosy mysteries with not too much on the page violence and bad language then try this one.It reminded me a little of Jeanne M Damms' Dorothy Martin mysteries though Prue is a younger characters than Dorothy. So if you enjoy the Dorothy Martin mysteries you may enjoy this one too.
review 2: I absolutely had a ball reading "The Garden Plot" by Mary Wingate - for several reasons. 1. I'm a Texas girl, and Pru Parke, the main heroine, in the story is a Texas girl! 2. I love gardening, and Pru Parke is a gardener 3. I'm a little bit noisy, and Pru Parke is definitely a lot a bit noisy! 4. I love a good mystery and Pru Parke finds herself right in the middle of a fascinating mystery! Wingate presents her readers a well-written, totally engaging story filled with charming characters and plenty of spine-tingling twists to the story to keep readers on the edges of their seats! I highly recommend this debut mystery to anyone who enjoys a great tale with plenty of action and a bit of romance dropped in for good measure! I'm looking forward to Marty's next book in this fun series! less

Good book. Had a few possible choices of the murders, but it was someone unexpected.

Fun enough I wanted to finish it, but I was able to put it down at night.

Quite an implausible plot but a fun read.
