review 1: I thought this was a sweet short story. I did not expect to like it so much based on the reviews here. But I did. It was just a simple love story two years in the making.Philippa had become enamored of Julian when she was just 16. Her father caught them holding hands and banished Julian. He had been a reckless rake at the time and decided to change his ways while he waited for Philippa to grow up.He succeeded admirably. He brought his deceased father's estates back to profitability and improved his own reputation to a spotless one. By the time he made his move back to London to pursue Philippa, she was visiting Viscount Darleigh. Her parents had arranged the visit hoping to receive a proposal from him. He took off and Julian made his move.All turned out beautifully of cour... morese. I am glad we got to read Philippa's story after learning about her in Vincent's. She was not a victim at all. I liked this little story alot.
review 2: Don't bother to read this if you haven't read the Proposal or are not planning to read the rest of Mary Balogh's Survivor Club series. It is kinda like a deleted scene or an outtake from the beginning of the Arrangement. I read this in between the Proposal and the Arrangement. Luckily it was available at the library; it was worth reading as I love Mary Balogh's writing but not worth buying IMO - too short especially the ending. I hope we see the couple again in upcoming books, I wouldn't mind finding out more about them especially since there's a connection between Julian and the Survivor Club members. less
