review 1: I usually enjoy books by this author but not this one. Stupid characters and far too many of them as well as too many different story lines. There were three separate occasions where the wrong characters name was mentioned - Hannah and Jessie are discussing Hannah's sister Kate's condition( she is in a coma) and then I read "Kate did not volunteer anything more" ??? Well of course not she is not in the car with them but in a hospital unconscious!!I have reserved MHC newest book at my local library, I can only hope it is better than this ridiculous story.
review 2: Actually I'll give it 2.5 stars since I couldn't decide between 2 or 3I always love Mary Higgins Clark's books, this was I think the first I truly dislikedToo many characters, introduced too fast an... mored not given enough time to get to know one character before next was introduced. Then next chapter another character and this kept up for a long time in the book that I couldn't keep most of them all straight. The major ones, yes, but so many others introduced and not enough time given to get to know them before new one was next. Sure, by end of book they were all pretty well known but all throughout the book I kept asking, now who is this again?The story itself would've been quite good had she not put in so many characters. I'm not even sure she needed half of them but I won't mention who is significant and who isn't. I believe it was a ploy for her to keep the reader wondering but all it did was cause confusion for me. The ending was good I'll admit but the whole middle of the book became confusing, boring, too much ----PERIOD!!I just hope this story was a fluke for her and not how she's going to be writing from now on. If I find one of her newer books to be just as confusing with too many people in it, I'm not even going to finish it and most likely will be the end of my long time of reading her books. I'm hoping she doesn't fail on others coming out less
